Luke Whitlatch

I had the pleasure of knowing Luke during a couple years of college together, definitely one of the most inherently talented individuals who's crossed my path. More work here.

Red Gold

Really beautiful film about a fishing community in Alaska and their quest to halt a giant copper mine.

Outside the Shoe Box

Man, I tried. I tried really hard. It is really tough these days to find quality goods outside a major US city, or hell even in a major US city. I tried my best to attain a pair of kicks that would really be on par with what I have been conjuring in my mind's eye. These Grensons are just about as close to perfection as I could find, and truthfully they lived up what I had pictured. Amazing craftsmanship, beautiful leather (man that smell was amazing) and just an overall luxurious quality of days gone by. So, I ordered up a pair, waited the 5 weeks it took to get them from the UK after blindly guessing on an approximate size. Of course the size was completely wrong and moreover I guess English brogues are generally made in a wide width that aren't compatible with the feet I've been given. What a bummer, I seriously considered packing them out with newspaper they are that cool.

Sadly, I ended up ordering a pair of RL Barx Boat shoes (I know I swore I wouldn't cave into them) but man they turned out to be actually a really nice looking shoe, great leather, good fit and I got them in less than 24 hours with free shipping and no tax from Endless.com.

Sigh, sometimes handy, is well, handy.

L.L.Bean Trim-Fit Oxford - $29

So from first hand experience, I have to say that this is probably one of the hidden best deals out there right now at a whopping $29. Its trim but not button-bulging tight, super crisp and just generally solid. The fabric is great, wrinkle-resistant (great for our conversation about all those shirts sitting in the basement waiting to be ironed for a year) and looks good dressed up or down. Could be my first step in the right direction to replace t-shirts with real shirts.

DoubleButter I need

A few pieces from DoubleButter that would be great at my house. The Penguin beside the couch in the front room, the Grasshopper for lounging on the porch, and the Crane for proper barstools. All good stuff from good local guys. Check out their new site.

Seeing as this is pretty much me in a style nutshell and I've been absolutely glued to the post, I have to keep this one for the archives. Thanks to A Time to Get.

Rapha

High fashion cycle gear. Be careful looking at this site, lock up the wallet first. I really like the offset zipper and you might have found your nice leather gloves. Check out the fixed bag, and, well, basically everything else.

Stone walls - Thailand

Since we're on the subject of vacations, perhaps this gets added to the list. X2 Resort Kui Buri, Thailand

La Reserva House - Chile

Take a look at both the "wall of glass" and the wood paneling on the walls and, notably, the ceiling. Inspiration for you. Arch Daily.
